Staglin Family Vineyards

Staglin Family Vineyard winemaking is accomplished to create wines of intense fruit character, with soft, supple tannins that allow the wine to be drunk upon release, but have the capacity to age and become extremely complex over time. Our wines have a long finish, and deep color, characteristic of the grapes from our vineyard.
Our completely organic farming methods are designed to produce the most developed and intense flavors possible from our Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, and Chardonnay grapes. Once created, our wines are aged in French oak for 20-24 months, with approximately half of these barrels being replaced each year. These wines are crafted in a style which maximizes fruit quality with soft tannins for extended aging potential. Due to these traits, our wines have earned highest ratings in numerous wine journals.

Dan Berger, The Grape Vine, talks about our wines: "This is one of my favorite wines to consume young, even though they appear to have the stuffing to age. Exciting Rutherford dust aroma and dense fruit. This vineyard once was an essential part of BV Private Reserve."

Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, comments: "I find these Cabernet Sauvignons to be graceful, elegant, and undeniably stylish. One of Napa Valley's more gorgeous winery and vineyard sites."

Tom Shelton, The New Sotheby's Wine Encyclopedia, says: "This winery produces lush, beautifully balanced Cabernet of great finesse, and stunningly rich yet silky smooth Sangiovese."

1997 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford

Complex, spicy aromatics lead to a ripe, supple, polished core of dusty currant, black cherry, black olive and plum, finishing with a touch of sage and anise. Drinkable now, though short-term cellaring should round out the tannins nicely. Best from 2002 through 2012. 6,500 cases made. (6500 cases produced) – 92 points, Wine Spectator
