Robert Sinskey Winery
Sometimes fantasies become reality and sometimes reality is more fantastic than your wildest dreams. Robert Sinskey dreamed of spending his golden years applying his scientific background to the growing of Pinot Noir and Merlot. In 1979 he bought a small piece of land in the Carneros region and the following year he became a partner in an acclaimed Napa Valley winery. Over the next decade his small vineyard grew to over 100 acres in three Carneros locations and he oversaw the construction of a winery and the development of a vineyard in the Stags Leap District. He also saw his son Rob Sinskey take over the business in 1988.
Now Rob Sinskey and winemaker Jeff Virnig have carved out a niche as growers and producers of fine Pinot Noir, Merlot and two proprietary wines: A Merlot based Carneros Claret and a Cabernet Sauvignon based Stags Leap District Claret. Oh yeah, Robert Sinskey Sr. hasn't retired yet.
