Robert Craig Wine Cellars
Robert Craig Wine Cellars was established in 1992 with three long-time friends who support Robert's commitment to producing small quantities of hand-crafted wines. Limited production allows for careful monitoring and control -- from grape selection in the vineyards to the final blending. The winery's label features a seal of assurance that conveys our pledge of quality to each consumer.
In the recently published 1999 edition of "California Wine" by James Laube, Robert Craig Wine Cellars was named one of the top twenty "five-star" wineries in California.
The first Robert Craig Cabernet Sauvignon (1992 vintage) debuted in 1995 and was enthusiastically received by consumers and wine reviewers. The Wine Spectator magazine featured Robert Craig Wine Cellars as one of California's "Hot New Wineries" in June 1996 and Robert was named 1995 "Rookie of the Year" by The Wine News magazine.
Over the past five years, Robert Craig Cabernets have garnered top 90+ ratings in major wine publications including The Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate, Connoisseurs’ Guide, Winetoday.com and The Wine News.
For over 20 years, Robert Craig has been a leader in the development of mountain vineyards and the production of wines of great depth and character from hillside vineyard sources.
This abiding interest began with the vineyards of Mt. Veeder on the southwesterly slopes of Napa Valley, where Bob first learned the potential for making superb mountain Cabernet Sauvignons. The winery's distinctive mountain Cabernet Sauvignons earned immediate recognition from the wine press and consumers. Building upon that success, Bob spearheaded the campaign to have Mt. Veeder designated as a special appellation district within the Napa Valley in 1990.
Over the past nine years, Bob has broadened his viticultural interests to include other Napa Valley appellations, developing a wine style for the portfolio of Robert Craig wines that conveys the unique personality of wine grapes from outstanding winegrowing districts.
